1954-1960 Gained National Diploma of Design, in constructed Textiles.

Sussex College of Art & Crafts, Worthing, West Sussex.

Awarded R S A Travelling Bursary (Scandinavia) in Textile Sections.

Awarded R S A Associate Membership, later Life Fellow.


Summary

I am married with an adult family. All my working life I have been an Artist Craftsman creating individual pieces; teaching and in consultative positions. Exhibiting abroad for at least twenty years.


Handweaver

Although I have woven a variety of textiles, taught many aspects of fabric construction, it is the Ryijy hanging or‘wool painting’ in which I specialise. Weaving them since training in Scandinavia.

1969-1974

1973-1985

I taught Handweaving for Kent County Council Establishments. In 1980 I became a consultant and Tutor for the British Wool Marketing Board collection centre in Ashford, Kent. England.

In 1985 I opened my own Retail Textile Crafts business in Sandwich, Kent, England above which I had a studio where I taught Textile Crafts.

1999-2000

Own Millennium exhibition of seven Ryijy at Ashford Gallery, Kent England.

Jan 2001 Exhibition of Ryijy at Gillingham Gallery, Medway, Kent England.

Now semi-retired I continue to weave Ryijy.

In December 2000 I published my own Handweavers’Manual for Novice Weavers. Which is still in demand.
